EMPLOYERS
The Academic Internship Program at UCSD connects well-qualified juniors and seniors with organizations seeking interns, and provides the students with academic credit for substantive internship opportunities.
Benefits to participating employers include:
• The services of highly motivated students eager to improve upon their skills.
• An expanded workforce for special projects or short-term assignments.
• Access to current academic research in your field.
• A chance to observe and train potential employees.
• An opportunity to help train the workforce of the future.
There is no cost to you to post an internship with AIP or to participate in the program, though you may choose to provide a stipend to interns. We look forward to working with you in the near future!
How does AIP Work?
-
Post an Internship through this website.
-
AIP counselors will match interested students to your internship, ensuring that the interns have the qualifications that you are looking for, and that the internship correlates with the students’ major areas of academic study and career goals.
-
Only after the student is screened by the counselor and matched to your internship will the student receive your contact information. An AIP counselor will send you the student’s cover letter and resume.
-
If the student looks like a good match, please interview him or her. If you choose to accept the candidate, the student and the onsite supervisor should then develop concrete learning objectives and complete the Learning Agreement form.
-
Internships follow the UCSD quarter schedule. Interns are required to work a minimum of 10 hours per week for 10 weeks. Additional hours may be negotiated between you and the student.
NOTE: The University will not grant students academic credit for interning at brokerage firms or financial services firms.
