Deborah

UCDC Peer Advisor

Pronouns: she/her/hers

Deborah is a fourth-year ERC student majoring in International Studies-Political Science and double-minoring in Law & Society, and Transnational Korean Studies. She participated in UCDC during fall of 2019 and interned with the U.S. Department of State. It was an eye-opening and influential quarter that served to solidify her career aspirations and fall in love with DC. Following her quarter on the East Coast, she studied abroad in beautiful Switzerland until the COVID-19 pandemic forced an untimely end to the program. But even through her shorter study abroad experience, Deborah was able to gain valuable insight into the field of international affairs from a non-U.S. point-of-view. Throughout her whirlwind junior year, she also served as the American Vice-Chair for the 13th Korea-America Student Conference (KASC), a program that brings together American and South Korean university students together for a dialogue-centered leadership conference. KASC will always hold a special place in her heart, as it helped her to grow as a person and gain confidence as a young leader. Having returned to San Diego after a year away, Deborah enjoys (safely) exploring new areas (and desserts!) in San Diego with her friends and reading YA books.
