Academic Internship Programs (AIP)

Internships~Service Learning~Community Engagement

The Academic Internship Program offers students an opportunity to apply academic knowledge and analytical skills in professional settings while earning academic credit. While AIP is housed in Earl Warren College, it is a campus-wide program open to juniors and seniors of all majors. AIP offers:

  • Academic internships grounded in program learning outcomes and individualized student learning objectives.
  • Service learning initiatives for faculty interested in integrating a service-related internship component into the curriculum.
  • Customized partnerships with campus departments and programs interested in integrating internships with departmental requirements and/or program objectives.
  • Top notch talent for corporate and community organizations who share the AIP vision for academic internships and are committed to fostering a culture of learning.

The Academic Internship Program philosophy is shaped by the Warren College motto of Toward a Life in Balance. Our investment is in developing experiential learning opportunities that allow students to integrate academic theory and ‘real world' practice, engage in research that explores the relationship between the two, and develop the professional skills needed for success in the twenty-first century workplace. Approximately 800 students, across a wide variety of academic disciplines, enroll in the Academic Internship Program each year.
