Public Service Minor (PSM)

The Public Service Minor is open to all students who seek to understand the history and practices of public service and work toward developing civic skills.

To view details and requirements for declaring the minor, please view the Public Service Minor homepage.

What is the PSM Internship?

Students may enroll in AIP 197P: Public Service Internship, to earn internship credit for application toward the minor. Students may opt to intern for multiple quarters at one internship site, or intern at different sites to fulfill the academic internship requirement for the minor. Unit options for AIP 197P are:

4 units: 10 hours/week (100 total)
8 units: 20 hours/week (200 total)
12 units: 30 hours/week (300 total)

These dedicated internships are a great opportunity to engage with the community while exploring your personal career and academic goals. For alternative pre-approved options for fulfilling the PSM internship requirement, please consult with the Public Service Minor in Marshall College Advising.

*You may be able to count an academic internship that you have already completed through AIP, UCDC or UCCS towards one of the PSM internship requirements.

Schedule an appointment with the Public Service Minor counselor at AIP to discuss your internship goals and options.  Send a message to the Academic Internship Program via the Virtual Advising Center (VAC), or email to request an appointment. To apply and enroll in AIP 197P, follow the steps to apply for AIP outlined on our website.
