Internship Timeline

AIP students must apply for and secure an internship prior to the start of the academic quarter to enroll in an internship course. If your organization is interested in hosting a UC San Diego intern, please ensure that your internship postings are submitted to REAL Portal before the end of the student application period for the appropriate quarter. Internship offers should be made and student enrollment completed prior to commencement of the quarter during which the student will intern. When determining when to post an internship and/or set your application deadlines, please also consider the internal timing your organization needs to interview and select interns.

Learning Agreement deadlines apply to students enrolling the Academic Internship Program's AIP 97/AIP 197/AIP 197P courses. Students enrolling in courses offered through other departments may be subject to different/earlier deadlines, including the BISP 197 course associated with the Biology Research Internship Program.

Fall Quarter 2025

Internship Dates: September 29, 2025 – December 5, 2025
Suggested Deadline for Intern selection: September 1, 2025
AIP Learning Agreements Due: September 5, 2025

Winter Quarter 2026

Internship Dates: January 5, 2026 – March 13, 2026
Suggested Deadline for Intern selection: November 28, 2025
AIP Learning Agreements Due: December 5, 2025 (Dec. 1 for BISP 197 priority)

Spring Quarter 2026

Internship Dates: March 30, 2026 – June 5, 2026
Suggested Deadline for Intern selection: March 6, 2026
AIP Learning Agreements Due: March 13, 2025 (Mar. 9  for BISP 197 priority)

Summer Quarter 2026

Internship Dates: June 29, 2026 – September 5, 2026
Suggested Deadline for Intern selection: May 29, 2026 (or earlier)
AIP Learning Agreements Due: June 5, 2026
